Conference Attendance Grant
This grant supports students in attending conferences, workshops, seminars, or competitions that enhance their educational opportunities outside of the classroom. Grants can cover any eligible expenses to a maximum of $500/person and $4,000/group. Please ensure you have read through this page and understand the application criteria and eligibility prior to submitting your application.

Eligible expenses include:

  • registration fees (does not include organizational memberships)

  • accommodation costs (does not include food or beverages)

  • and travel costs.

In order to be eligible for funding applications must:

  • be received a minimum of eight (8) business days prior to the committee meeting;

  • include a description of the conference;

  • include names, emails, student numbers, and program of each applicant;

  • identify a primary applicant;

  • include a budget estimate with all eligible expenses and any additional funding sources;

  • include a description of the benefits of attending the conference;

  • be validated by a faculty member from the related faculty.

All applicants and attendees included in the application must:

  • be registered in at least one course in the semester the application is submitted;

  • not be receiving course or program credit for their attendance at the conference.

The following expenses shall not be eligible for funding:

  • Organizational memberships

  • Food and beverage expenses

  • Alcohol and cannabis

  • Expenses related to University Staff or Faculty, notwithstanding student employees.

The Grants Committee shall not approve:

  • funding exceeding $4000 per application;

  • funding exceeding $500 per person;

  • applications retroactively;

  • applications submitted more than 4 months prior to the conference date;
